Dr Chiu Kay Lau, BA(CUHK), DipEd(CUHK), CertSpEd(HK), CertAuralRehab
(Lincoln), MA(Ed)(CUHK), MDiv(Concordia), PhD(Manchester), is a
music educatherapist and educator for the special educational needs,
mainstreamed and talented. He composed more than 200 pieces of music
and has been a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Hong
Kong since 1981. He contributed more than 50 articles on education,
special education, music education and therapy, language education
and counseling. He presented frequently in Hong Kong and in countries
abroad. He gave more than 50 interviews to newspapers, magazines,
radios and televisions. He won one education and one music composition
awards. |

Ms Pui Fun Lam, BA(Ed)(NCCU), DipEd(CUHK), CertSpEd(HK), CertAuralRehab
(Lincoln), CertPutonghua(HK), has been teaching mainstreamed and special
educational needs students for more than two dozen years. She, co-operated
with Dr Lau, develops an educatherapeutic programme besides music.
The multiple intelligence, learning ability, thinking, attention,
memory, language, co-ordination, emotion and behaviour management
of the special educational needs, such as mentally handicapped, autistic,
Asperger syndrome, emotional and behavioural disordered, speech difficult,
learning difficult, dyslexia, hearing handicapped and physically handicapped
are greatly enhanced, not to mention the mainstreamed and the talented.
After two to three years of learning, students’ cognitive ability
is eminently improved. Their intelligence quotients can be raised
20 to 50 points. They can study successfully at mainstreamed schools
and many get high marks. Mainstreamed students possess the I.Q. of
the talented. |
